Goose Creek Residence in West Chester
The owners of this residence loved much about their house, including its location, but wished to revise the floor plan, refresh rooms, and add custom detailing to make it uniquely their own. They also wanted to better enjoy the views afforded by the site as well as the previously underutilized outdoor space. This West Chester renovation transformed the home into a useful, efficient space for this family's everday needs.
Period Architecture worked within the existing footprint to create a new kitchen, mudroom, study, family room, and master bath. These new interior rooms transform the house, inspiring an ease of flow and utility with their well-appointed cabinetry, paneling, and flooring. Customized casings, bolection moulding, traditional chair rails and ceiling coffers contribute to the newly distinguished, elegant spaces. New glazing throughout enticingly frame the views and the brick-floored mudroom accommodates the trappings of coming and going as well as all the children’s gear.
Period Architecture also extended the living area to a tiered terrace, planned in sequence to beckon the family and their frequent guests for outdoor relaxation and entertaining. A covered porch with its stone fireplace flows naturally from the family room, as does the pergola from the kitchen. The slate and stone terrace, fire pit, and recreational areas beyond have become newly beloved features of this suburban renovation.
